Dr Bruce Mitchell
Executive Chairman and Co-Founder
Dr Mitchell is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland, the Royal College of Physicians in Canada and is a diplomat of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a director of the Immunology Laboratory, Blackrock Clinic and a past President of the Allergy Foundation of Ireland. He has been a member of the WHO sponsored International Workshop on Dust Mite Allergy. Dr Mitchell has extensive business experience within the allergy and asthma specialties and is also co-founder of Mitest Limited a manufacturer of a patented dust collection device that is distributed internationally. Dr Mitchell practices at the Blackrock Clinic as a Consultant Physician and Clinical Immunologist.
Caitriona O' Donovan
Programme Manager - health friendly airTM
Caitriona O'Donovan is Programme Manager and has responsibility for the management and development of the health friendly airTM programme. Caitriona has spent all of her career working in the healthcare sector. A registered nurse, she then went on to complete a higher diploma in Occupational Health and Hygiene and worked as an Occupational Health Advisor in London. Returning to Ireland she completed a diploma in sales and management, and working with BUPA Ireland she was instrumental in the development of the Health @ Work business which went on to become a leading provider of wellness programmes to the corporate sector. Caitriona is an established expert in corporate wellbeing programmes and is a frequent guest speaker at conferences.
Ruairí Ward
Occupational Hygienist - health friendly airTM
Ruairí has responsibility for the occupational hygiene and workplace environmental monitoring for the health friendly airTM programme. With his team, he develops and delivers tailored quality sampling strategies for the occupational setting.
Ruairí is a science graduate from the National University of Ireland Galway. After originally working in the I.T. industry he went on to complete a Higher Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and worked as a Health and Safety Advisor for the Johnson & Johnson in Ringaskiddy Cork. He then undertook further postgraduate study in the U.K. by completing a postgraduate diploma in Occupational Hygiene from the University of Manchester which led Ruairí to work as an Occupational Hygienist for Eli Lilly in Cork and subsequently at Allergy Standards Consulting Limited.
Angela Southey PhD
Technical Manager
Angela is the Technical Manager for ASC. She has responsibility for the running of our analytical laboratory which includes analysis and reporting on samples collected for the health friendly airTM programme.
Angela qualified with a BSc. in Microbiology from UCC, before going on to complete a PhD in Lung Fibrosis in UCD. She then spent two years working in Japan on Ulcerative Colitis with Tanabe Seiyaku Ltd. Returning to Ireland she took up a senior research position in the Veterinary College, UCD followed by extensive industry experience in the diagnostic area with Wyeth Biopharma and Abbott Diagnostics.
Máire Fox
Assistant Technical Manager
Máire shares responsibility for the analytical laboratory. Maire graduated from NUIM with a BSc in Biology followed by laboratory analyst positions in the Biotechnology Unit in NUIM and the Vitamin Research Laboratory in TCD.
Máire completed a research MSc. in Prion Disease while working as a Laboratory Analyst in the Prion Research Laboratory in UCD. She subsequently worked in the Department of Agriculture investigating the molecular characteristics of BSE strains in Ireland.
Tim Yeomans Ph.D
Scientific Officer
Tim graduated from the Institute of Technology Carlow with a Degree in Industrial Biology before being employed in SimBioSys biotechnology company in research and production. He completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology in UCC which focused on pathogenic fungi.
Following a short contract in the National Centre for Medical Genetics, Tim was subsequently employed as a post-doctoral scientist in the Microbiology Research Unit in the Dublin Dental School and Hospital investigating pathogenic yeast species.
Tim is heavily involved in research and development for the health friendly airTM indoor environmental programme.
Dr John McKeon,
Co-Founder and Managing Director
Dr McKeon is a medical doctor and holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He is a successful entrepreneur with a strong track record in starting and building an international company. This venture has been backed by both venture capital and state funding from the Dublin City Enterprise Board and Enterprise Ireland. He completed a National Business Incubation Programme (January 01) and achieved a Post Graduate Diploma in new business development. Dr McKeon was awarded the 'Lead Entrepreneur Award' by the Irish Prime Minister while participating in the biotechnology business incubator programme in 2002. He has been profiled in several business publications including the Irish Entrepreneur magazine and maintains a keen interest in medicine with several publications in Medical journals.
John Carroll FCA
John Carroll FCA trained as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Young, Dublin and has more than fifteen years post qualification experience in a range of sectors. He has a broad knowledge of licensing gained as a result of his roles as a record company CFO and founder and Financial Director of DP Music Limited, a successful music publishing company.
Andrea Richardson
Programme Executive
Andrea originally came from a journalism and PR background, however her post-college experience varied from time in corporate environments, different sectors of the entertainment industry to a broad range of sales roles. An extended time in London followed where she worked as a PA within the music industry, during this time she also acquired the position of Marketing Assistant. When she made the move back to Dublin she joined the ASL team, taking up a role that continues to fulfil her fondness of diversity.
Tracy Cullen
Office Administrator
Tracy joined the health friendly airTM programme as an office administrator in June of 2008 and is responsible for the general day-to-day running of the office.
Tracy has spent all of her career working in administration and sales in various different business sectors. She became interested in the medical profession after spending her time as an administrator for the BUPA Ireland Health @ Work Team were she was responsible for all the medical reports, invoicing and co-ordinating all health screening projects.
Niamh McKeon
Scientific Researcher
Niamh graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with an honours degree in Science and Zoology. She has a Business Skills Diploma from Pitman Training and has studied in d'Overbroeck's College, Oxford. She has specialist work experience in several ecological scientific research programs including conservation projects on the islands of Indonesia. She has also worked in several television ecological productions for the Irish national broadcaster. Previous employment includes providing executive support to Board of Directors in Capability Green. Further professional training includes completing an I.T Enrichment Programme and being Associated Exam Board certified in Communication Skills.
